Why it matters

Wix does not let you leave cleanly. Budget for that, not around it.

Every other migration starts with a decent export. Wix does not. You get a limited product CSV, no clean commerce API to pull the rest, and nothing at all for the design. Customers, order history, blog posts, member records and media all have to be gathered through separate exports, admin scraping or manual reconstruction, and the fields Wix gives you rarely map one-to-one onto Shopify's model. None of this makes the migration risky — it makes it more manual than merchants are told, which is why quotes that assume a tidy CSV import tend to fall apart in week two. We scope the real extraction path before anything is promised.

Product model translation

Wix Stores treats options loosely; Shopify enforces a strict product-and-variant structure with a hard option limit. Ribbons, custom text fields and per-option pricing need remodelling as variants, metafields or apps. We map this deliberately, because a bad product model is the thing you cannot easily fix later.

Complete 301 redirect map

Every indexed Wix URL mapped to its Shopify equivalent — products, collections, blog posts and pages. Wix's URL patterns differ structurally from Shopify's, and older sites still carry the legacy hash-bang format in links and backlinks. Both are handled. SEO is preserved by redirects, never improved by moving.

Storefront rebuild

There is no theme to port. Wix designs cannot be exported in any usable form, so your storefront is rebuilt on Online Store 2.0 — we work from your existing site as a reference and end up with something faster, editable by your team, and no longer dependent on a drag-and-drop canvas.

Blog, pages and member data

Wix blog posts, static pages, media and member or account records migrated into Shopify's blog, pages and customer objects. Members are the awkward part — Wix accounts do not carry passwords across, so we plan the re-registration flow and the email that explains it rather than letting customers hit a wall.

Cutover and monitoring

Staged on a password-protected store, tested against a written checklist, then switched at a low-traffic window with redirects live from the first minute. We watch Search Console, crawl errors and checkout completion for 30 days afterwards, because that is when quiet problems surface.

Wix is genuinely fine for some stores. Here is where the line sits.

A good fit if…

  • You sell enough that Wix payment, shipping and app limits now cost you measurable revenue.
  • You want a storefront your team can merchandise without a designer touching every layout change.
  • You have blog, media or member content on Wix that has to survive the move intact.
  • You accept a rebuild rather than a design port, because Wix layouts cannot be exported.

Probably not, if…

  • You launched recently, take a handful of orders monthly, and Wix has not constrained you yet.
  • Your site is mostly a brochure that sells occasionally — Shopify buys you very little there.
  • You want the Wix design reproduced pixel for pixel with no budget for rebuilding it properly.
  • You expect the move itself to lift rankings. Migrating preserves search equity; it does not add any.
