What Plus adds
Plans, features and prices change, so confirm the details on Shopify's pricing page before you decide. In broad terms, Plus differs from the standard plans in these areas.
- Checkout: far deeper checkout customisation, including checkout extensions and branding control, plus Shopify Functions for custom logic. See our checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions work.
- Scale: higher API limits and capacity to handle large traffic spikes and big catalogues.
- Multiple storefronts: expansion stores for separate brands, regions or wholesale, managed together.
- B2B and wholesale: stronger tools for company accounts, custom pricing and catalogues. Check which B2B features are available on lower plans today.
- Automation: tools such as Shopify Flow and larger limits on staff accounts and workflows.
- Support and partners: dedicated account support and access to the Plus partner programme.
- Lower payment processing rates in some cases, which matters at volume.
What Plus does not change
- It will not fix a weak offer, slow site, poor product pages or thin SEO.
- It does not make your store faster by itself. See our Core Web Vitals guide.
- It does not remove the need for good development. Most of the extra power is unlocked by custom work.
Signs you may have outgrown your plan
- You need checkout changes that your current plan cannot do, such as custom fields, payment or shipping logic, or branded checkout steps.
- You run several brands, regions or wholesale channels that would be easier as separate storefronts.
- Your team is large enough that staff and permission limits get in the way.
- You depend on automation you cannot build with the tools you have.
- Your volume is high enough that processing rate differences add up to real money.
- You need B2B features that are not available on your plan.
Signs you do not need it yet
- Your main problems are conversion, traffic or speed, not platform limits.
- The checkout customisations you want are available on your current plan.
- You run a single store and a single brand.
- You cannot yet point to a specific limit that Plus would remove.
How to decide
- List the specific limits you hit today, with a rough cost for each in lost sales, workarounds or developer time.
- Check which of those Plus actually removes, using current Shopify documentation.
- Add up the extra platform and app costs, and compare them with the value of what you would gain.
- Ask for a Shopify sales conversation or a partner review before committing.
- Plan the upgrade and any checkout work together, since the benefit comes from using the new capabilities.
Our strategy review helps stores weigh this up, and our Shopify store development team builds what Plus unlocks.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus?
- Plus is Shopify's enterprise plan, with deeper checkout customisation, higher limits, multiple storefronts, stronger B2B and automation tools, and dedicated support. Confirm current specifics on Shopify's pricing page.
- At what revenue should I move to Shopify Plus?
- There is no single number. Move when a specific limit on your current plan is costing you more than Plus costs.
- Does Shopify Plus improve SEO or speed?
- Not by itself. SEO and speed depend on your theme, content and apps. Plus mainly adds checkout customisation, scale and enterprise features.
